Crowns Produce Solid Smiles
A severely injured tooth affects your smile and dental health. To prevent extensive decay and save your tooth, Dr. Hackbarth may suggest a crown. Also referred to as caps, crowns fit securely over the teeth and cover more surface area than regular fillings. Depending on the tooth location, we use all-ceramic, porcelain-fused-to-metal, or gold materials for your custom crown.
Typically, patients schedule two visits for a crown. First, Dr. Hackbarth clears away the decay, reshapes the remaining tooth structure, and creates an impression of your tooth. During this appointment, he will also fit you with a temporary crown. He then sends the mold to the dental lab so that they can mill the crown. At the next visit, he will make any adjustments and place your permanent restoration.
