Do you accept referrals?

Yes, we're always happy to accept new patients from other dental offices as well as from recommendations by our patients to their families and friends. We especially appreciate our friends telling others about our office.

Do you accept my insurance plan?

Dental insurance can be a good thing. Millions of people regularly use their benefits when they visit a dentist. Often people are surprised to find that what they expected from their dental plan is not what it actually provides.

We will consult with you about your specific plan so you can be informed about your benefits and any limitations within your plan. Ask us and we will send you an excerpt from the "I Hate Dentists" book which will explain how dental insurance works.

Generally, Dr. Hackbarth does not accept insurance assignments. However, it is our goal to help you get any treatment you need. We will do the paperwork to file any claims you may have, and we have payment plans available for those who may need them.

What do I do if I have an emergency when the office is closed?

Dr. Hackbarth is concerned about the health and well-being of all his patients. If you need him, there is an emergency number where you can leave a message. He will be paged and will return your call promptly. Our patients always appreciate his availability.

My child has had an accident and his/her tooth has been entirely knocked out. What do I do?

Keep the tooth moist. This can be accomplished by placing the tooth into milk, or a body-temperature saltwater solution, or even between the child's cheek and gum. (There are also commercially-available kits containing a solution just for this purpose, such as the 3-M Save-a-Tooth kit. It's a good idea to have one of these in your first aid supplies.) Do not wash or attempt to clean off the tooth. Take the child to the dentist as soon as possible for reimplantation. Time is critical: The tooth will begin to die after 15 minutes and the sooner the reimplantation is done, the better the chances of successful treatment.

What payment options do you provide?

We accept cash, checks and most credit cards. We have several outside financing options for patients who may need this service and for established patients, we can sometimes make special arrangements for extended payments.

I don't like drills. Are there any other options?

In many cases air abrasion can be used to remove tooth decay without pain, needles, or drilling.

My gums bleed after I brush. Should I be concerned about this?

Yes. Bleeding gums are a hallmark of gum disease and need to be evaluated. Dr. Hackbarth offers individually tailored gum disease treatments, most of which can eliminate the need for surgery.

I really don't like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

Our staff uses a number of methods to help patients stay relaxed and calm during treatment and most patients are able to eliminate any anxieties without drugs. We have available (by appointment) a dental anesthesiologist who can provide sedation for patients who may need this service.
