Technology

We are excited about technology! Dr. Hackbarth and our team pour over trade journals and regularly attend seminars, conferences, and classes to learn about the latest and greatest dental tools. In addition to being really cool, dental technology allows us to provide a more comfortable and safe patient experience. It also helps with accurate diagnostics for more conservative procedures. Here are a few of the reasons we love technology…

Air Abrasion – Don’t like the sound and vibration of the dentist’s drill? We’re not too fond of it, either! Dr. Hackbarth prefers to use quiet, comfortable air abrasion instead of the traditional drill. Air abrasion involves air and tiny abrasive particles sprayed onto a tooth during preparation for a restoration. There’s no heat, vibration, or sound. In many cases, patients don’t even need anesthesia! Imagine that…no shot, no pain, and a tooth-colored filling. Now that’s innovative dentistry!

DIAGNOdent – This laser doesn’t cut, it scans. With DIAGNOdent, we can find demineralized tooth enamel to prevent cavities from forming. This laser also detects tooth decay between teeth, where the doctor can’t see in a visual examination. No probing, no pain. Just simple and efficient.

Digital Imaging – If you’re the kind of person who needs a visual before making an investment, we can show you what your potential smile makeover or dental reconstruction will look like after treatment. Digital imaging software manipulates a current photo to create a glimpse into the future, so you can show off your new smile to friends and family before it’s actually yours!

Digital Photography – Dr. Hackbarth uses digital photography in diagnostics and case presentation. Digital images give us a detailed look at your teeth and gums for accurate diagnosis and more conservative treatment. We also take before and after photos, so you and we can see the transformation of your smile. It’s just another way we show you value! The proof is always in the pudding – or, in this case, the pictures.

Digital X-ray – One of the most exciting things about digital radiography is the safety! Patients are exposed to about 80% less radiation with digital X-rays than with traditional X-rays. But the benefits don’t end there. Digital X-rays, like digital photography, provide our clinical team with detailed images for diagnosis and conservative treatment. The images are saved in digital files for quick access and transfer to insurance companies, specialists, etc. We predict that all health providers will go to digital X-rays in coming years, and we’re on the leading edge of that movement!

Soft-Tissue Laser – If you’re one of the 80% of American adults who suffer from gum disease, you’ll appreciate the convenience, precision, and comfort of soft-tissue laser therapy for gum treatment. Our hygienists and Dr. Hackbarth use the laser to debride gums – which involves removing bacteria from periodontal pockets. This procedure eliminates bacteria and promotes fast reattachment of gums to teeth. Laser dentistry can also be performed to take biopsies, graft soft tissue, and treat cold sores.
