Every member of our team is hand-picked by Dr. Hackbarth, who insists on hiring professionals who demonstrate competence, caring and, most of all, integrity. He believes that a person's trustworthiness and commitment to excellence are every bit as important as their technical skills. We survey our patients regularly, and the words that come up most often to describe our staff are "kind," "gentle," "thoughtful," and "friendly." The staff is very talented technically, and because we have worked together for such a long time, we've developed an easy rapport that helps treatment go more smoothly. Patients tell us they can sense this, allowing them to relax a little more knowing that they're in good hands.
JoAnn
Public Relations and Marketing
After 21 years teaching elementary school, JoAnn Hackbarth joined our team 18 years ago as the office manager. She has most recently transitioned back to working on Public Relations and Marketing for our dental office so that she can spend more time with her grandchildren. She is deeply embedded in our community, where she has served on many community boards. She truly enjoys seeing our patients’ smiling faces year after year. After hours, JoAnn loves entertaining, decorating, listening to a wide variety of music, craft projects, and keeping up with her grown children and grandchildren.
Lisa
Receptionist/Business Assistant
Lisa is originally from San Antonio, Texas but has lived in the Texas CIty / LaMarque area since a teenager. Coming to us from the medical field, she brings knowledge in coding, revenue cycles, and the front desk post. During her spare time Lisa is a registered yoga instructor, an active member of the La Marque garden club, and enjoys cooking, reading, and spending time with her family and friends, and her Texas Blue Lacy dog, Maynus.
Esther
Registered Dental Hygienist
Esther is our Registered Dental Hygienist. She received two degrees in applied science, one focused in Dental Assisting and the other in Dental Hygiene. Esther is a member of the ADHA, TDHA, & BADHS. She has called dentistry her career for over 25 years. Esther and her dog Papí live in the Kemah area. In her spare time, she plays the piano and sings professionally with her boyfriend, Scott, as well as in a new girl band, “The Flowerettes.” She also enjoys driving limousines.
Valerie
Office Manager
Valerie is from Needville,Texas and, although new to Texas City, she's been in the dental field for 14 years! One of Valerie's favorite parts of ever day is working closely with patients. Outside of the dental office, she loves spending time with her family and traveling.
Jan
Financial Coordinator
Jan worked with us many years ago and has come back as our financial coordinator. Jan works with our clients to receive their maximum benefits from dental insurance, look for financing for larger treatment plans, and helps them manage their dental accounts. Her bubbly personality makes her a fun addition to our team and dental family. She loves spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren. She also enjoys remodeling houses and teaching private softball pitching lessons.
Clarissa
Lead Dental Assistant
Clarissa is our lead dental assistant. She comes to us with several years of dental assisting experience. Her calm, professional demeanor makes appointments more relaxing and enjoyable. During her spare time, she enjoys exercising, and spending time with her family and young son.
Karen
Dental Assistant
Karen may be a relatively new member of our team, but her career in dentistry spans 12 years so far. After attending the University of Houston, she completed the dental assisting program at the ATI Career Training Center. She enjoys being able to educate patients on their oral health and ease their fears of being in the dental office. She lives with her husband, who loves watching all kinds of sports; her daughter, who just graduated from college; and her son, who is in his senior year of high school. They have a dog named Simba, who loves to sleep. In her free time, Karen likes spending time outdoors with her family, going to the beach, watching movies, shopping, and trying new types of food.
Crissie
Dental Assistant
Crissie has worked in the dental field for 13 years so far, all of which have been spent here at Dental Cosmetic Denter. Getting to know our patients is by far her favorite aspect of her position. She attended college in Galveston and is certified in nitrous oxide, orthodontics, X-rays, and CPR / first aid. Born and raised right here in Texas City, Crissie is married with two fur babies. She enjoys spending her free time with her friends and family.
